ES5MC 1 laiskas:
I decided to contact you to initiate a discussion on a VHF issue - perhaps you can introduce us your league's VHF-manager and we could establish a closer communication further on? Also, if there e.g. could be a chance that a small delegation of LRMD could pay a visit to our summer camp at the end of June (an easy place to arrive, a camp near Pärnu - see also www.joekaaru.ee), it would be just perfect to carry on actual talks!
The idea is to discuss if we could join our forces and create a joint (or a "semi-joint" at least) VHF/UHF/SHF contest in August in a way that both sides will win and generate more activity than currently our separate contests (i.e. our VHF Field Day and your LY VUSHF contest) can manage to do! It will mean of course some compromises from both sides - to find more or less common rules, a commonly acceptable contest time (e.g. for us the 3rd weekend of August might be too late to support a field day format) etc - but we can discuss this all if we both consider that the current separately existing activities are lacking development and stronger potential in the future. At least here in Estonia we have been "dreaming" of a kind of "Baltic Field Day contest" on VUSHF bands that would create more exitement and reason for other countries to turn their antennas towards us. One country alone (e.g. ES or LY) will not have such a critical mass, all 3 (ES, LY, YL) will probably have - like on HF.
Would be nice if you could do some research on the matter and give me feedback if the topic seems interesting (or at least worth) at all to be discussed jointly and how could we proceed then?
Looking forward to hearing from you,
